Why choose office cubicles?

Cubicles sit between an open desk and a private office. Acoustic panels around the desk block visual distractions and absorb noise, so people can focus or take calls.

Because they are freestanding, cubicles need no building work and can be used as temporary or permanent workspaces.

Partition screen enclosures are a fast, low-cost way to create separate meeting or work areas. For fully enclosed rooms, see our office pods and booths.

Office cubicle partitions and cubicle walls

You can create office cubicles in two ways: buy a ready-made acoustic cubicle workstation, or build your own cubicle partitions from linked free-standing screens. Cubicle walls made from partition screens are usually the lower-cost option and can be rearranged later, while ready-made cubicles give a more finished, enclosed workstation.

How to build cubicle partitions from screens

  • Shape: link three screens around a desk to make a U-shaped cubicle, or two screens for an L-shaped corner cubicle.
  • Height: choose around 1500mm for privacy when seated, or 1800mm to block views when standing.
  • Width: match the back panel to your desk width, usually 1200mm to 1600mm, and the side panels to the desk depth.
  • Noise: use acoustic office screens for the cubicle walls so they absorb calls and conversation.
  • Rows of cubicles: share side panels between neighbouring cubicles with 3- and 4-way connectors to save cost.

Office cubicle FAQs

What is an office cubicle?

An office cubicle is a workstation enclosed on two or more sides by partition panels, giving one person a semi-private space within an open-plan office.

Do office cubicles need building work?

No. Our cubicles and partition enclosures are freestanding, so they can be installed without construction and moved later.

Can cubicles be used as temporary workspaces?

Yes. Partition screen enclosures are a quick, low-cost way to create temporary offices or meeting spaces, and can be taken down when no longer needed.

Do office cubicles reduce noise?

Acoustic cubicles such as the Abstracta Hive have sound-absorbing walls that cut noise and distraction for the person inside.

What is the difference between a cubicle and an office pod?

A cubicle is usually open at the top or front, while an office pod is a fully enclosed room with its own walls and door.

Do you deliver across the UK?

Yes. Delivery is free on every order to England and Wales. Delivery to Scotland and Northern Ireland is charged; please contact us for a delivery quote before ordering.

How much do office cubicles cost?

Building cubicle walls from linked acoustic screens is the lowest-cost option, from £131.81 ex VAT per Edge Fabric 38 screen. Ready-made cubicle workstations start from £1,723.43 ex VAT for the Abstracta DB H cubicle.

Can I build office cubicles from partition screens?

Yes. Link three free-standing screens around a desk to make a U-shaped cubicle, or two for an L-shaped corner. Acoustic screens give the best result because they absorb noise as well as blocking views.
