A family business since 2003
Paul Furse started Panelscreens in 2003 to supply office partition screens to UK businesses. Today his sons, Jonathan and Thomas, run the company. As open-plan offices grew and noise became one of the biggest complaints at work, we focused on acoustics and now design our own range of sound-absorbing screens.
Why acoustics matter
In an open-plan office, conversations, phone calls and keyboards carry across the room. Hard surfaces such as glass, concrete and desks reflect that sound, so noise builds up and people find it harder to concentrate. Acoustic screens work by absorbing sound rather than reflecting it: a solid core wrapped in sound-absorbing foam and fabric soaks up speech at desk and head height before it reaches the next person.
A good screen also gives visual privacy, so people can focus without feeling watched, while the space stays open and easy to work in.
