Why call centres need acoustic screens

In a busy call centre, every agent's voice adds to the background noise. Without sound-absorbing surfaces that noise builds up, agents talk louder to be heard, and customers hear other conversations behind them. Acoustic desk screens absorb speech close to its source, between neighbouring agents, so the room stays calmer and each call stays clearer.

How to set up a call centre floor

  • Between agents: acoustic desk screens on every desk, high enough to block sound and sightlines when seated.
  • Back-to-back benches: centre-fixed screens between facing agents, with side returns where desks run in long rows.
  • Across the room: acoustic wall panels on hard walls to cut the echo that desk screens can't reach.
  • Team areas: freestanding acoustic screens to separate teams, team leaders or a training area.

Call centre screen FAQs

How high should call centre desk screens be?

Most call centres choose screens around 400–500mm above the desk, enough to block sound and sightlines between seated agents while keeping the floor open. Taller screens give more privacy; we can advise on heights for your desks.

Do acoustic desk screens help with call quality?

Yes. Sound-absorbing screens soak up speech between neighbouring agents, so less background chatter reaches each headset microphone and customers hear the agent more clearly. Acoustic screens absorb sound; they are not soundproof.

Can you fit screens to our existing call centre desks?

Our desk screens fit most desks with clamps, brackets or freestanding feet. Send us your desk thickness and any monitor arms or cable trays and we'll confirm the right fitting before you order.
