Ozone acoustic privacy booth in an office

What is an office pod?

An office pod is a freestanding, acoustically insulated room that sits inside your existing office. It gives people a quiet, private space for calls, video meetings or focused work, without tying up a whole meeting room.

Pods are freestanding furniture, so there is no building work or planning permission needed, and some models, like the Plenty Pod Mobile, can be moved as your layout changes.

For sensitive meetings and noisy spaces like factory floors, fully enclosed acoustic booths such as the Ozone series give the most privacy.

Sizes, sound ratings and costs

Sizes vary a lot. Our Zen phone booth is 1200mm wide, the Zen acoustic pod comes in small, medium and large sizes, and the large is over 2.3m wide. The Zen XL acoustic pod is made for up to five people.

For sound, look for a tested noise reduction figure in decibels (dB): the higher, the better. In our range, the Nautilus booth is tested to BS EN ISO 717 with a 30dB rating, Zen booths and pods dampen sound by 31dB, and the Ozone booth is rated at 36dB. No booth is completely soundproof, but a good one makes speech outside hard to follow and keeps calls from disturbing the office.

As a rough guide, single-person booths start from around £2,700, while multi-person pods typically cost from around £10,000 to over £20,000, depending on size, finish and extras. Check each product for current prices or ask us for a quote.

Planning office space for a pod

  • Measure the floor and ceiling. Check the footprint and the ceiling height where the pod will go.
  • Check the way in. Make sure the parts will fit through doors, lifts and corridors on the way.
  • Leave clearance. Allow room for the door to open and for people to walk past.
  • Plan power. Most pods need a nearby socket for lighting, fans and charging.
  • Talk to facilities. Each pod has its own roof, so check fire detection, sprinklers and ventilation with your facilities team or landlord.

Free advice on the right mix

Many offices start with a few phone booths for calls and one meeting pod for quick meetings, then add more once they see how they are used. Send us your floor plan and headcount and we will suggest a layout. We can also install your pods and booths. To quieten the rest of the office, pair pods with acoustic office screens and acoustic wall panels.

Office pod FAQs

What is an office pod?

Do office pods need planning permission?

No. Our office pods and booths are freestanding furniture, so they need no building work or planning permission.

They are acoustically insulated to keep conversations private and block out office noise. Fully enclosed booths such as the Ozone series give the most privacy.

What is the difference between a phone booth and a meeting pod?

A phone booth is for one person making calls or video meetings. A meeting pod is larger, with seating for a small team to meet away from their desks.

Many pods come fully glazed or half-glazed with fabric panels in a range of colours. Call 020 3995 4570 to discuss the options.

How much do office pods cost?

As a rough guide, single-person pods start from around £2,700, while multi-person meeting pods typically cost from around £10,000 to over £20,000, depending on size, finish and extras. Many models are priced on request, so contact us with what you need and we'll send a quote.

How are office pods installed?

Pods arrive in sections and are assembled on site, which is why it is worth checking that the parts fit through your doors, lifts and corridors. Most need a nearby power socket for lighting, fans and charging. We can deliver and install your pods and booths for you.

How much space does a meeting pod need?

Check the footprint on each product page, then add room for the door to open and for people to walk past. Single-person pods like our Zen phone booth are 1200mm wide, while meeting pods such as the Zen XL seat up to five people and take up more of your office space.
