Office Screens, Partitions & Dividers
Office screens are free-standing panels that divide an open-plan office into private desks, team areas and quiet zones, with no building work. Our office screens and free-standing office partitions create private desks, meeting corners and waiting areas in minutes. Choose from fabric, acoustic, glazed, wipe-clean vinyl, wooden and mobile office dividers, with next-day options and many screens made to order in the UK for offices, schools and healthcare. How to choose office screens
Four quick decisions that get you the right screen first time.
Acoustic or standard?
Acoustic screens have a sound-absorbing core that cuts noise and echo in open-plan offices. Standard fabric and glazed screens divide space and add privacy for less.
Shop acoustic office screens →Which height?
1200mm gives privacy when seated. 1500mm blocks most noise and views. 1800mm and above creates a room-like space for meetings and quiet zones.
Compare our ranges →Freestanding or mobile?
Freestanding screens stand on feet and link into runs, L-shapes and bays. Mobile screens run on lockable castors, so you can move them in seconds.
Shop mobile office screens →How fast do you need them?
Next-day and fast-delivery screens are in stock. Our own Muffle and Edge screens are made to order in the UK in 5–15 working days.

Types of office screens
Office screens come in several styles. The right one depends on whether your main problem is privacy, noise, light or a layout that keeps changing.
Fabric office screens
The most popular choice. Fabric screens stand on their own feet, link into longer runs, and soften the look of an open-plan office. Many are pinnable, so they double as noticeboards. Shop fabric office screens
Acoustic office screens
Acoustic screens have a sound-absorbing core under the fabric. They soak up speech and background noise instead of just blocking the view, so they suit busy offices, sales teams and call areas. Shop acoustic screens
Glazed and glass screens
Glazed screens have a solid lower panel and a clear top, while glass screens are clear all the way. They divide space but keep the room bright, which helps in darker offices. Shop glazed office screens
Mobile office screens
Mobile screens run on lockable castors, so you can wheel them into place for a meeting and move them away again. They are ideal for training rooms and flexible spaces. Shop mobile office screens
Wooden office screens
Wooden screens bring a warmer, more natural look to receptions, breakout areas and design-led offices. Shop wooden office screens
Budget and fast-delivery screens

Planning your office screen layout
Most office layouts are built from a few simple shapes. Freestanding screens join together with link fixings, so you can create:
- Straight runs to split one team from another or line a walkway.
- L-shapes and T-junctions to wrap around the end of a bank of desks.
- Bays and booths with three sides, for quiet work, calls or small meetings.
- Full enclosures that work like office cubicles, without building work.
For height, around 1200mm divides space while people can still see each other. 1500mm gives privacy when seated. 1800mm and above blocks views even when standing. Leave clear walkways and keep fire exits free. If you send us a floor plan or a few measurements, we will suggest a layout and send you a quote for free.
Office screens or office partitions?
People often use the two names for the same thing. In general, office screens are freestanding and can be moved at any time, while office partitions can also mean taller or fixed walls. Freestanding screens need no building work or planning permission, and you can take them with you when you move. Read more in our guide to office screens vs office partitions, or our office room dividers guide. For sizes and layouts, see our office screen sizes guide, office partition walls guide and office cubicles guide.
Why buy office screens from Panelscreens?
We make our own screens
Our own ranges, including Muffle and Edge, are made to order in the UK. We have been making office screens for over 20 years, so we can advise on what works in real offices, not just what looks good in a catalogue.
Any size, any fabric
If you can't find the size or shape you need, we can make it. Order free fabric samples to match your brand colours before you buy.
Delivered and fitted
Delivery is free to England and Wales, with next-day delivery on selected ranges. We can also install your office screens anywhere in the UK.
Office partitions without the building work
Office partitioning doesn’t have to mean builders, dust and weeks of disruption. Our free-standing office partitions link together into partition walls, bays and room dividers that go up in an afternoon, need no landlord approval and move with you when your team changes. Here are the main office partition systems we supply.
Free-standing office partitions
Tall fabric office partitions at 1600–2000mm high stand on their own feet and link with 2-, 3- and 4-way connectors, so you can build straight partition walls, L-shapes, T-junctions and fully enclosed bays. They suit open-plan offices, schools and healthcare spaces that need to divide space now and change it later.
Acoustic office partitions
If noise is the problem, choose acoustic office partitions. They have a sound-absorbing core in 38mm, 50mm or 70mm thicknesses that soaks up speech rather than reflecting it, which makes them the best free-standing option for call-heavy teams and meeting areas.
Glass and glazed office partitions
Glass office partition screens and glazed office partitions divide the space while letting light through, so the back of the office doesn’t go dark. They work well around managers’ desks, receptions and small meeting areas.
Office partition walls and room dividers
Linking tall screens end to end gives you a partition wall that splits a room into zones, separates a walkway from desks or screens off a kitchen or storage area. Mobile partitions on castors work as office room dividers that wheel away when you need the full room back.
Office partitions with doors
Free-standing partition screens leave an open entrance rather than a lockable door. If you need a fully enclosed room with a door, an acoustic meeting pod or office phone booth gives you that without building work, and for individual workstations see our office cubicles.
Office partition options compared
| Partition type | Typical height | Cuts noise | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fabric partitions | 1600–2000mm | A little | Zoning teams and walkways |
| Acoustic partitions | 1200–1800mm | Yes | Noisy open-plan offices |
| Glass and glazed partitions | 1600–1800mm | No | Keeping light in |
| Mobile partitions | 1500–1800mm | A little | Flexible and training rooms |
| Pods and booths | Fully enclosed | Most | Calls and private meetings |
We deliver free to England and Wales on our own range and install office partitions anywhere in the UK. Send us your floor plan and we’ll suggest a partition layout and quantities for free.

FAQs
What are office screens?
Office screens are freestanding panels that divide open-plan spaces without building work. They create private desks, meeting corners and quiet zones, and acoustic versions also absorb noise and echo.
What is the difference between office screens and office partitions?
The terms are often used for the same thing. Office screens are freestanding panels, usually up to about 2000mm high, that you can move and relink. Office partitions can also mean fixed, floor-to-ceiling walls that need building work. All our office partition screens are freestanding, so there is no installation or landlord approval needed. See our office partitions guide, or read office screens vs office partitions.
Do acoustic office screens really reduce noise?
Yes. Acoustic screens have a sound-absorbing core that soaks up speech and reflected noise, so open-plan spaces sound calmer. Thicker screens absorb more sound: our 70mm Muffle screens absorb the most, and 38mm Edge screens are a good lower-cost option.
Can I link office screens together?
Yes. Most of our freestanding screens link together with link fixings, so you can build straight runs, L-shapes and bays to create larger dividers or booth-style areas.
How quickly can you deliver office screens?
Our next-day and fast-delivery screens are in stock for quick dispatch. Our own UK-made ranges are made to order: Edge screens are dispatched in 5–10 working days and Muffle screens in 10–15 working days.
Can you make office screens to a custom size?
Yes. We make bespoke office screens of any type and size, for any budget, in your choice of fabric. Send us your measurements or floor plan and we’ll send you a quote. Contact us.
How much do office partitions cost?
Free-standing office partitions cost far less than fixed partition walls because there is no building work. Prices depend on height, width and whether you choose fabric, acoustic or glazed panels; for example, our Edge Fabric 38 acoustic screens start from £131.81 ex VAT. Send us your layout for a full quote.
Do I need planning permission for office partitions?
Not for free-standing office partitions. They are furniture rather than building work, so they need no planning permission, building control approval or landlord consent. Fixed floor-to-ceiling partition walls are different, so check with your landlord before building those.
Can office partitions have doors?
Our free-standing partitions leave an open entrance rather than a lockable door. If you need an enclosed room with a door, an acoustic meeting pod or phone booth gives you one without any building work.
Office screens and partitions for every workspace
